Chevy Chase House

Situated on a corner lot, the existing conditions included a den/kitchen addition in the rear of the house that confused interior circulation and split the exterior space into two patios. Design focused on reestablishing circulation between interior spaces and providing a kitchen and new interior/exterior space worthy of the original house in the form of a four season porch. Daylit by three skylights, the kitchen opens to a renovated den and a four season porch to the north. The west and north elevations of the porch open fully to the exterior with bi-fold doors, creating intimate connections with the landscaping. Integrated screens allow for the owners to use the porch year round.

Additional design work included reimagining the front hall for better connection to den and dining rooms, the home office, and converting a one car garage into a pantry and mudroom.

Approvals include the Board of Zoning Adjustment.
